Bienvenue
My apologies for not updating sooner!
The end of January saw our class very busy with student-led inquiry, as they wrapped up their unit on personal introductions by researching and reporting on a French celebrity. Students were quite engaged in the task, and learned a lot about a variety of current and historical French figures. What a great opportunity for us to discuss in brief the rise of the French revolution, the role France has played in the two world wars, and as well the challenges faced by the people of Haiti, both in their founding and today. Students have received their rubrics and many have brought them back now with a signature. Should you have any questions regarding your child's progress, please contact me through my email address [email protected]. Having finished our Je me present unit, students are spending the last week of January and the first week or two of February learning in two short mini-units. Our Grade 7 students are exploring Mardi-gras and the rich history and French culture that is imbedded in these celebrations. Our Grade 8's are working more directly with me to learn and put into practice the verb tense "passe-compose" which will allow them to (finally!) be able to correctly say "I HAVE....". This learning will culminate with a test, likely to come in the next two weeks. Please look in your child's agenda for notes on the date of this test. An update will come next week on our progress through this new learning! Merci! Mme Sambol
