Bienvenue
Work continues on our weekly dictee, daily vocabulary and introduction to the play Hansel and Gretal.
We have been working as a class to learn the pronunciation of unfamiliar words and perfect those that we do know. Students enjoyed a fun matching game where they had to find vocabulary words in French when told the matching word in English, then pronounce the word for a point for their team. We will work together, page by page, to perfect pronunciation of each role before students are assigned to a group. This should happen before March break. The dictee that was scheduled to be for March 10 (learning) to March 22 (quiz) has been cancelled to allow students more time to practice the play and give them a break over March break! Again, if you haven't yet signed up for Remind, please do so. Your child should have provided you with the code to text to join. If you didn't receive it and would like it, please email me directly at [email protected] and I will send it to you. A la prochaine! Mme

The first few weeks were a whirlwind, but I think the students are now used to me being back, and we've settled into a routine.
I have introduced two new games that we will play each day for 5 minutes. They are called "Plus bas/Plus haute" and "Prof du jour". This will get them each speaking in French every day! Prof du jour will be an ongoing competition between the three intermediate classes, with the winners enjoying a movie day (en français!). We have now completed our first two weekly dictées. The students are adjusting to the expectations, and I expect will feel more confident in the weeks to come. Please look for dictées coming home to be signed. If you have any questions, please ask. You will also see I have sent home a paper with the code to set up the REMIND APP, such as is used in other intermediate classes. I hope that you will join to keep up to date with French news. Last week I introduced our new unit, which will be dramatizing a play (Hansel and Gretal). We will work on this for several weeks. The presentation of this play will form a large basis of your child's Speaking mark for French this term. Rubrics will be provided prior to the presentations. The students worked hard to create the success criteria with me so they understand what they are to learn. The next few weeks will bring more vocabulary learning, listening and speaking activities. Ã la prochaine! Mme Sambol |
